Add page numbers to a PDF, free

Number every page of a PDF in the corner or centre you choose, in styles like “Page 3 of 12”. It all happens in your browser: your file is never uploaded.

Need other people to sign?

PactPen sends your PDF to each signer by email, records their consent, time and IP address, and gives you the signed PDF with a certificate of completion. Free for 5 documents a month.

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The numbers are added inside your browser. Nothing is sent to PactPen or anywhere else.

Can I leave the cover page unnumbered?

Yes. Tick “Skip the first page”. Numbering then starts on page 2, beginning at the number you choose.

Can I start from a number other than 1?

Yes. Set “Start at”, for example 5 when this PDF continues a longer document.

What about sideways pages?

Numbers are placed on the page as you see it, so a landscape or rotated page gets its number at the bottom, reading the right way up.

Does it change the rest of the page?

No. Only the number is added on top. Text stays selectable and images keep their quality.

Is there a size limit?

Files up to 25 MB.
