- Choose your photo. A clear, well-lit photo against a plain background compresses best.
- If the form gives a size in pixels, enter it under Exact size.
- Check the preview, then download the JPG and upload it to the form.
Questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The image is resized and compressed inside your browser and never leaves your device, which matters for ID photos and signatures.
Will my photo still be clear at 20 KB?
For a passport-style head-and-shoulders photo, yes: at the few hundred pixels such forms ask for, 20 KB is enough for a clear face. A large landscape photo has to be made much smaller to fit, so crop it to just you first.
The form also gives a size in pixels. Can I set that?
Yes. Enter the width and height under Exact size. The image is cropped from the centre to that shape rather than stretched, so a face or signature is never squashed.
How do I know which size my form wants?
The form’s instructions state it, usually as a maximum in KB and sometimes as width and height in pixels. Limits differ from one form to the next, so check yours rather than relying on a general rule.
Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes here?
We aim for 1,000. Forms disagree on which they mean, and a file under the 1,000-byte figure passes both kinds of check.
