Resize a signature image to under 50 KB
Forms that allow a larger signature, often 40 or 50 KB, still reject a phone photo at several MB. This tool cleans up the paper, keeps the ink sharp, and gets your signature under the limit.

- Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen and take a photo of it in good light.
- Choose the photo. Keep Clean background on to turn grey paper and shadows white.
- If the form gives a size in pixels, enter it, then download the JPG.
Questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The image is resized and compressed inside your browser and never leaves your device, which matters for ID photos and signatures.
My form says 40 KB. Can I use this?
Use Compress image to a size and type 40 KB: it works for any limit. It has no Clean background option, so photograph the signature on white paper in good light.
What does Clean background do?
A phone photo of paper is never truly white: it picks up grey tones and shadows. Clean background turns the paper pure white and the ink dark, which looks crisper and keeps the file small.
The form also gives a size in pixels. Can I set that?
Yes. Enter the width and height under Exact size. The image is cropped from the centre to that shape rather than stretched, so a face or signature is never squashed.
How do I know which size my form wants?
The form’s instructions state it, usually as a maximum in KB and sometimes as width and height in pixels. Limits differ from one form to the next, so check yours rather than relying on a general rule.
